The Dalles Chronicle, January 25, 1996
     Vernon Ira Lauzon, 70, a resident of Dufur, died at his home on Jan. 19, 
1996.
    He was born Oct. 7, 1925 in Scobey, Mont. to Aime and Margaret (Jerome) 
Lauzon.
     He developed a love of sports as he grew up around the northwest.  While 
attending high school in Cheney, Wash., he won a district track meet as a 
sprinter.
    He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Philippines and 
Japan in the armored cavalry.
     He worked in consruction and as a lumberjack most of his life, and much 
of that time worked for Cody Lumber while living in Friend and Dufur.
     He and his wife, Madge Boles, who had known each other since they were 
children, were married on Dec. 10, 1953 and eventually settled in Dufur in 
1964.
     He enjoyed playing golf, watching football and eating sweets.
     Survivors include his wife, Madge, Dufur; children, Sonya Gandy, 
Warrenton; Paul Lauzon, Portland; Walter Lauzon, Carson City, Nev.; Larry 
Lauzon, Brookings; Dawna Post, Dufur; and Lawna Adams, Ketchikan, Alaska; five 
brothers, Harvey, Arnold, Teles, Leo and John; a sister, Marjorie; and half 
brothers and sisters, Howard, Alford, Floyd, Leroy, Rosie, Ellen and Mary Lee; 
and a large number of grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Another 
child, Lynette, died in infancy.
     Graveside funeral services were held Jan. 23 in the Veterans Section of 
Parklawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of 
the Gorge in care of Smith Callaway Chapel.
