She was born May 29, 1926, in Bliss, Idaho to Harvey Franklin and Anna May (Stone) Clampitt and grew up in Bliss and Wendall, Idaho. She lived most of her early adult life in Idaho before moving to Oregon, first to Rowena and then to The Dalles in 1954. She worked as a waitress in several of the restaurants in The Dalles for many years, including the Amotan Cafe, Johnny’s Cafe, and The Recreation. She loved walking through The Dalles, enjoying the sights and sounds of her town and the company of her friends, especially her two closest companions, Fran May and Carmela Ames. The other passion in her life was her grandchildren. She is survived by her four children and their families; sons Ray and his wife Lynda Belt, Puyallup, Wash.; and Lars Larson, Rapid City, S.D.; daughters Ruth and her husband, Gene Emett, The Dalles; and Linda Larson, Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Harvey Clampitt, Nampa, Idaho; and Duane Clampitt, Kent, Wash.; two sisters, Myrtle Heil, Twin Falls, Idaho; and Eva McRay, Pierce, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Emily Emett, Lynette Kramer, Shona Flink, RaeLyn Curtis, Jessie Belt, Wanbli Larson and Deanna Adams; eight great- grandchildren; Josh and Whitney Kramer, Kacia Hicks, Paige Flink, SarieLyn and Caleb Curtis, Zoe and Zena Adams. At her request no public services will be held; the family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance in conjunction with the disposition of her ashes. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
