The Dalles Chronicle, December 30, 1986
Joyce G. Kuchenthal, 71, a former resident of The Dalles, died at a hospital 
in Gresham on Dec. 26.

She was born May 28, 1915 in The Dalles, to Nathaniel and Ethel Garman.  She 
grew up in The Dalles and married Van "Buck" Allen Kuchenthal on Sept. 5, 1935.

After the marriage she resided there until 1945 when she moved to the Seattle 
area.  She lived on Vashon Island for approximately 20 years and after her 
husband's death in 1968 she moved to McCall, Idaho, where she lived for two 
years before moving to the Gresham area.

She had been employed by Union Pacific Railroad while living in The Dalles.  
While living in Washington she owned and operated her own beauty shop for many 
years.

Survivors include a brother, Glenn Garman, Portland; and two sisters, Edith 
Fosnot and Brigidier Erma Garman, both of Portland.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Bateman Funeral Chapel in 
Gresham.  Vault interment will be at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
