The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 12, 1982
     Francis George Knowles, 70, a long time resident of Wamic, died Feb. 3 at 
the hospital.

     He was born in Malta, Mont. Nov. 5, 1911.

     Mr. Knowles operated a road grader for Cody Logging Company for many 
years.  He was a member of Wamic Grange.

     Survivors include his wife, Oriel Knowles, The Dalles; a brother, Robert 
G. Knowles, White Salmon, Wash.; a sister, Ruth Choate, Huntington Beach, 
Calif.; and several grandchildren.

     Funeral services were Feb. 6 at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with 
Dan Leabo officiating.

     Honorary pallbearers were Duanye Thompson, Owen Magill, Dick Huss, 
Kenneth Vanassache, Pete Walters and Guy Brittian.

     Private burial services followed at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
