Wakley iwakley@msn.com and June 23, 2006, 12:21 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 13, 1983 James Robert Kiser, 87, a lifelong resident of the Hood River and The Dalles area, died Sept. 29 at the hospital. He was born Oct. 17, 1895 in Hood River. He was a veteran of the army in World War I and worked for many years for The Dalles City Water Department at the 14th Street Reservoir prior to his retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Vera, whom he married in Hood River on March 9, 1919; four sons, Robert, Harold, Don and Gerald, all of The Dalles; three daughters, LaVena Graham and Delores Watson, both of The Dalles, and Lillian Stadwell, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rose Butler, Milwaukie. Private graveside services were Friday in the veterans section of Parklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Delmar Anderson officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
