The Dalles Chronicle, July 27, 1973
Marguiret Pemment Kirby, a former resident of The Dalles and Hood River, died 
in a Gresham hospital on Thursday.  She had lived in Portland the last six 
years.

She was born in Dufur Nov. 23, 1893.

For many years, Mrs. Kirby and her husband operated the Columbia Gorge Motel 
in Hood River.

She was a member of the Dufur Christian Church and was a 50 year member of the 
Columbia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.


Survivors are a daughter, Dorcas Riley, Milwaukie; two sons, George Pemment, 
Portland and Harry Pemment, Clackamas; four step-sons, Roy, Ralph, Kenneth and 
Harold Kirby, all of Hood River; two sisters, Mrs. Sula Whitten, Dufur, and 
Ellean Gillam, Portland; a brother, Walter Fargher, Dufur; three grandsons and 
eight granddaughters.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Smith Callaway Chapel with 
Pastor Asa Jensen officiating.  Burial will be at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
