The Dalles Chronicle, March 3, 2005
     Ellen "Mikie" Kay King, 53, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local 
hospital on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, due to complications of pancreatic cancer.
     She was born March 16, 1951 in The Dalles, the second of three children 
to Johnnie Gene and Ruth Ellen (Denley) King. She grew up in The Dalles, 
California and parts of Washington State.
     She attended and graduated from Columbia Gorge Community College with an 
Associates Degree as an administrative assistant. She worked with insurance 
companies in Hermiston, Lake Oswego and The Dalles, but was better known as a 
911 dispatcher locally.
     She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed animals, the Oregon 
Coast, Reno, Las Vegas, and helping senior citizens.
     She is survived by her close longtime friend, Pam Walsborn, The Dalles; 
her sister, Marla and her husband, Bob Storm, Hermiston; her brother, Larry 
King, The Dalles; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many 
close loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal 
grandparents, Ray and Marge Denley and paternal grandparents, Hazel and Lafe 
King. 
     Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
at 2 p.m.on Saturday, March 5, 2005 with Rev. Dr. Lynnea Lindsey officiating. 
     Cremation will be held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, 
Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. 
     Memorial contributions may be made to Home at Last Animal Friends, PO Box 
390, The Dalles, OR 97058.
