The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 16, 1984
     Athlene Yeackel Kennedy, 69, a lifelong resident of The Dalles area, died 
Saturday at Mid-Columbia Medical Center following an extended illness.

     She was born Aug. 20, 1914 in Centerville, Wash.

     Mrs. Kennedy worked as manager of the Barbeque Restaurant in The Dalles 
from 1951-1967.  She was also a member of First Christian Church, the American 
Legion Auxiliary, the Navy Mothers Club, and the Oregon State University 
Mothers Club.

     Survivors include three sons, Edward R. Elston, Klamath Falls; Loris D. 
Elston, Portland; and Michael E. Elston, Echo; and 10 grandchildren.

     Funeral services were yesterday (Wednesday) at Spencer, Libby & Powell 
Funeral Home with the Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating.

     Casketbearers were David Pierce, Lawrence Dennis, James Kane, Frances 
Gilkerson, Michael Williams and Richard LaMarche.

     Private burial was at Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, Wash.
