He was born to Tina and Charles Kendall on Nov. 21, 1921 in Bearsdale, Ill., and grew up during the Depression. He served in the US Army during World War II and was always proud of his service to his country. After being discharged, he completed an apprenticeship as a tool and die maker and lived for a time in both Chicago and St. Louis. He had a lengthy and distinguished career as a highly skilled tradesman. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Alberta, sister Ruth, son Jerry and family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew. Some of his ashes will be buried with a family graveside memorial in the veterans section at Oddfellows Three-Mile Road Cemetery in The Dalles. At his request, the rest of his ashes will be scattered to the wind and water at a family celebration of his life. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Mid-Columbia Medical Center, Health Foundation Great & Small Fund, 1700 E. 19th St., The Dalles, OR 97058.
