Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 18, 2006, 4:01 pm The Dalles Daily Chronicle, December 19, 1995 Adolph W. Jystad, 86, a former resident of Wishram, died at Culver City, Calif. on Dec. 10, 1995. He was born Jan. 4, 1909 in Galesburg, N. D. He worked as a Burlington Northern Railroad engineer (previously SP&S) for 30 years and had lived in Wishram for 40 years. As a young man, he worked as a singer and radio announcer for a station in Wolfpoint, Mont. There he met and married Alma Mildred Berg. In the early 1940s he moved his family to Vancouver where he began his railroad career with SP&S. He retired from BN as an engineer. He enjoyed music and had composed several songs, which he enjoyed playing on various occasions. He is survived by two daughters, Twila Brosseau, Battle Ground, Wash., and Iris Jystad, Culver City, Calif.; three grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. at Layne's Funeral Home Chapel in Battle Ground, Wash. Commitment will follow at Wilson Bridge Cemetery in Vancouver. Viewing at the funeral home will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
