He was born in The Dalles on July 28, 1950, the second child of Norman and Shirley Jurgenson. He was employed by the state of Oregon, working at hospitals in both Wilsonville and Salem for many years. He dedicated his life to helping the mentally ill. He was a believer in Native American culture and spirituality having spent time on an Indian reservation. His hobbies included fishing, camping and hunting. Later in life he enjoyed working with leather and carving wood. He lived primarily in Oregon and relocated to Vermont when his grandson was born in August 2003. He is survived by two sisters, Marilyn and her husband, Jerry Battersby, Mosier; Julie and her husband, Larry Wandling, Cascade Locks; his son, Dustin Jurgenson and his fiance, Sandra Collins, Ferrisburgh, Vt.; and grandson, Leif Jurgenson. His death was commemorated by Native American ceremonies. Ceremonies will be held in Oregon at a later date.
