     Mildred Hazel Jones, 91, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care 
facility on Saturday, July 3, 2004.
     She was born Sept. 12, 1912, in Thornburg, Ark., the eighth of ten 
children to John William and Laura Ann (Nunley) Johnson. She was raised in 
Arkansas and attended school in Aplin, Ark.
     Mildred met and married Willie Son Jones in Coy, Ark., Dec. 23, 1932. In 
1944, they moved to California and Mildred worked in the cafeteria at the 
shipyards on Mare Island near Richmond, and at the school cafeteria in Los 
Bantos. They returned to Arkansas in 1948 and then back to California in 1954, 
settling in Tulare County. In 1989, she moved to Hood River and then to The 
Dalles in 1999. 
     She was a homemaker and enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
     She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Janice and Bobby Rowan, 
The Dalles; six grandsons; one granddaughter; 11 great-grandchildren and five 
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband , Willie 
Jones in June 1975, and two sons, Willie Don and Robert Doyle Jones. 
Graveside services will be held at Smith-Mountain Cemetery in Sultana, 
California on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Nancy McClain 
officiating. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home are in care of local 
arrangements.

Portland, OR 97209.
