Jones, 64, a former resident of The Dalles and a resident of Parkdale since 1964, died Jan. 19 in a Hood River hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1919 in Albany, Mo. Mr. Jones moved to The Dalles and worked for the Klindt family. He married Mary Moore Aug. 19, 1941 in The Dalles, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II, attaining the rank of corporal. After the war he returned to The Dalles and resumed working for the Klindt family, and in 1964 moved to Parkdale and continued to work in an orchard. After 1970, he also worked part time for Diamond Fruit as a lift truck operator. He retired in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Parkdale VFW and the Parkdale Grange. Survivors include his wife, Mary, Parkdale; a son, William, Portland; five daughters, Jean Hockman, The Dalles; Catherine Graves, San Diego, Calif.; Helen Young, Hillsboro; and Patty and Suzie Hedges, both of Parkdale; 10 grandchildren, and a sister, Agnes Smith, Odell. Recitation of the rosary was Sunday at Anderson Funeral Home in Hood River and mass of Christian burial was Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Conway officiating. Burial was in the Parkdale Cemetery Memorials may be made to Parkdale Memorial Garden in care of the Parkdale Garden Club.
