She was surrounded by her family and many friends during her last hours. She was born Dec. 1, 1943, to Charles and Dora Jolly in Bremerton, Wash. During her high school years, she was an instructor at the family’s Fairy Side Roller Rink. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1962, then attended the University of Oregon for five years, majoring in math. She lived in Eugene and Creswell for many years before moving to her home in The Dalles. She worked for 23 years at Cascade Cherry Growers cannery and, with her mother, started Jolly’s Tax Service. She spoke fluent Spanish as a second language and had many friends and clients in the Hispanic community. Her driving skills were legendary. She did not take criticism of her driving well and went so far one time as to remove the steering wheel and hand it to her mother as they were going down the road. She is survived by her mother Dora Jolly, father Charles Jolly, sisters Denise Wozniak and Gwen Cowan, brother Charles Jolly, son Scotty Burns, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in The Dalles at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. A potluck for family and friends will follow the memorial service.
