Grant Johnson, a former resident of The Dalles, died on Nov. 22, 2004, at a care center in Kennewick, Wash. He was the only child of Harold and Doris Johnson. He studied and taught oceanography, chemistry and geology. He also held a master’s degree in administration. He taught high school chemistry for 46 years in schools in Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Utah and Arizona. In 1989 he married his sweetheart Alexandra Kulias in the Greek Orthodox church in Seattle. They lived for some time in The Dalles and were members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He was a Mason, 32nd degree, Scottish rite Shriner. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David, Telluride, Colo., and Mark and his wife Beth and granddaughter, Ashlee, Everett, Wash.; stepchildren, John and Tina Kulias, Stephanie and her husband, John Gillespie; and grandchildren, Andrew and Athen, North Carolina, Christina and her husband Christopher Gamuroulas and their children, Andrew, Georgia and Magdaline, Salt Lake City. A celebration of life service will be held Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Richland, Wash.
