He was born July 25, 1918, in Pine Creek, Wash., the second of seven children to Bill and Annie (Pupkawiinee) Jim. He was raised in the Celilo Village area. He worked as a wheat truck driver, railroad worker, fisherman, carpenter, ranch hand and orchard worker. He married Maggie Margaret Waters in 1938. Together they raised ten children. He is survived his children and their spouses, Sam Jim Jr. and Bernice of Harrah, Wash.; Bronsco Jim Sr. and Ella, Goldendale, Wash.; Rosita Wesley, Granger, Wash.; Arita and Harold Dave, Harrah, Wash.; Lucille and Roger Begay, Ronald Jim, Lester Jim, Karen and Fred Whitford, all of Celilo WY-AM; and Gloria Jim and Jesse, White Swan, Wash.; adopted daughter, Marcella Jim, Portland; adopted son, Jack Schwartz, Santa Monica,CA; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Celilo longhouse with burial at Pow’un’putt (Pine Creek) Cemetery. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
