     Betty Jackson, 81, died at a Las Vegas hospital on April 12, 2004, after 
a short illness.
     She was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Choes, N.Y., the first of eight children to 
Emery J. and Beatrice A. (Ferrell) Bariteau.
     She grew up in Choes, graduating from St. Agnes Catholic School and from 
Kevney Memorial High School.
     She worked at a nursery for 22 years, then for an attorney until she 
retired in 1978. 
     Early in her life, she enjoyed outdoor sports including hunting and 
fishing. Later in life, she enjoyed Bingo, cards and puzzles, crocheting, 
television and reading. 
     She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic church in The Dalles and of St. 
John Nuemann in North Las Vegas. She was a nine-year member of the Ladies 
Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2126. 
     She was a widow. Her husband of 30 years, Wislon, retired from the U.S. 
Navy and her only son, Warren, was in the U.S. Marine Corps. They both 
preceded her in death.
     Survivors include her daughter, Sheila M. Chaffee and her husband Donald; 
four grandchildren: Robert Chaffee, Debra Chaffee, Denise Chaffee Muncher, and 
Donald M. Chaffee; six great-grandchildren: Ashlet, Randy, Timothy, Katy, 
Derek, and Nicolas; and six siblings: Beatrice Gardner, Raymond Bariteau, 
Theresa Weeks, William Bariteau, Barbara Bull, and James Bariteau, all of 
Troy, N.Y. 
     Memorial services were held May 4 in Las Vegas.
