Patricia Jane Huntington, 75, a long-time resident of Madras (Oregon) died at her home on October 14, 2002 of leukemia. She was born September 21, 1927 in North Bend (Oregon) to Harry Venlo and Hulda (Wienert) Worthylake. She graduated from high school in Florence (Oregon). She married David Huntington in Florence on October 22, 1944. They moved to Madras in the winter of 1949 from Bend (Oregon). She enjoyed singing and acting and acted with Playhouse 97 Troupe when it was active in Madras. She was a member of Madras United Methodist Church, the Concordia Chapter of Eastern Star in Madras and the TOPS Club (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), first in Madras and then in Culver (Oregon). She volunteered at the Art Gallery in Madras and belonged to bridge clubs in Madras and Culver and enjoyed gardening, especially her rose garden. She was the first woman hired by the post office to have a foot route. She began this route in the mid-60s and retired in 1989 as a clerk with the post office in Madras. She also attended many community functions in The Dalles because of family connections. Survivors include her two sons, David Huntington and his wife, Susan, The Dalles; Ralph Huntington and his partner, Bob Hinson, both of Portland; a daughter, Kathleen Herbert, Junction City (Oregon); three grandsons, Ryan Paul Huntington and David Robert "Spike" Huntington III, both of The Dalles; Aaron Huntington and his wife, Michelle, Springfield (Oregon); three granddaughters, Alix Brooke Huntington, The Dalles; Mindy Herbert, Junction City; and Rahnee Williams, Berkeley, California; one great-grandson, Jordan Karl Huntington, Vancouver (Washington); three great-granddaughters, Sumyah Williams, Maryann Williams and Corrine Williams, all of Barkley (Oregon); a brother, Ralph Dean Worthylake and his wife, Patsy, Eagle Point (Oregon); and one sister, Barbara L. Wyatt, Sweet Home (Oregon). Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Priscilla Jones Huntington. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 19, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Madras with Reverend Tom Telfer officiating. Her urn will be placed at a cemetery in Florence beside her husband who died in 1964. Memorials may be made to Bend Memorial Clinic Foundation for Cancer, P.O.
