Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 20, 2006, 12:26 am The Dalles Chronicle, February 23, 2006 Sandra Lee Marcum LaFaver Huntington, 57, a former resident of Tygh Valley and a resident of John Day for the last three years, died at a hospital in Walla Walla on Feb. 5. She was born Nov. 2, 1948 in Wenatchee, Wash. to Beverly and Jess “Bud” Marcum. She married Gordon LaFaver in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1970 and on May 3, 1990 married George “Dusty" Allen Huntington in Meridian, Idaho. She graduated from South Wasco County Union High School with the class of 1968. She was a housewife and mother. She was a member of the National Quarter Horse Association and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. She spent her free time painting, drawing, reading and riding horses and also training race horses. She had a deep love for all animals, even stray ones. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, George “Dusty” Huntington, John Day; children, Denise M. LaFaver, Atlanta, Ga., and Brooke L. Colton, Seattle; her younger brothers and sisters, Colleen and Scott Ward, Dufur; Daniel Marcum, Tygh Valley; and Darlene and Tim Ashley, Wamic; and two grandchildren, Tanner and Wyatt Colton, Sandy. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at the Tygh Valley United Methodist Church Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. A potluck will follow the service at the church.
