May 2003 ********************************************************************************* Surnames: Humpherys, Stillwell, Clarish, Byrd, Gilman LaVon Terril Humpherys, 72, a resident of Winchester Bay (Oregon), formerly of Rowena, died at a Reedsport hospital on May 16, 2003. He was bornJune 2, 1930 in Shelley, Idaho, to Orren and Althea Humpherys. He grew up and graduated from high school in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He married JoAnn Stillwell in Winamucca, Nevada, on July 8, 1950 while working for Union Pacific Railroad. They traveled with the railroad until settling in The Dalles area in 1958, where they raised five children. He was employed by Harvey Aluminum from 1958 until retiring and moving to Winchester Bay in 1990. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid gardener, like to hunt, fish, camp and most of all being with his family. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, Winchester Bay, his children and their spouses, Lavilla and David Clarish, Yakima (Washington); Terry and Vickie Humpherys, Dorena (Oregon); Deland and Dottie Humpherys, Hershey, Nebraska; Marlene Byrd, Lingle, Washington and Wanda and Tom Gilman, Hammett, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Leon, and a grandson, Deland Jay. A celebration of life will be held at Half Moon Bay in Winchester on June 2, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Umpqua Hospital, 500 Ranch Road, Reedsport, Oregon 97467.
