The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 28, 1987
Funeral services for Hazel Elda Hughes, 88, of The Dalles, will be August 24, 
Monday, at 1 p.m. in Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Asa 
Jenson officiating.

Mrs. Hughes was born February 6, 1898, in Wapinitia and died August 21 in the 
hospital here.  She was a member of the Dufur Christian Church.

Surviving are three daughters:  Margaretta West of John Day; Maggie Brown of 
Dayville; Betty Gandi of Collbarn, Colorado, seven grandchildren, 12 great-
grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  Her first husband, Dick 
Jones, died in 1946 and her second husband, John Hughes, died in 1973.
