The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 15, 1983
     James Lee Howell, 86, a resident of The Dalles for the last 10 years, and 
a former resident of Portland and Pueblo, Calif., died Dec. 6 at the local 
hospital.
     He was born May 21, 1897 in Ione.
     Survivors include his wife, Helen, The Dalles; two daughters, Sibil 
Cunnington, Portland, and Dorothy Treavor, Dufur; a stepson, Earl Enyart, 
Lapine; a brother, Ernest Howell, six grandchildren and several great-
grandchildren.
     Visitation was at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home.  Graveside 
services were in Lincoln Memorial Park, Portland.
