Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 19, 2006, 9:31 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 17, 1983 Elenora Louise Hovey, 85, a resident of The Dalles since 1929, died Tuesday at the local hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1898 in Montrose, Colo. She was a member of First Christian Church and was active in the Sorosis Park Development Committee, Community Concert Association and Seven-Mile Home Extension Unit. She worked for Buster Brown Shoe Store for more than 30 years until it closed, and then worked part-time for Monahans Jewelry. She also worked part- time for The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce from 1930-1940. Survivors include three brothers, William R. Hovey and Fred B. Hovey, both of The Dalles, and Archie W. Hovey, of Portland; two sisters, Grace F. White, Sand Springs, Okla., and Della E. Davison, Lake Oswego, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are tomorrow (Friday) at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Oregon Heart Fund.
