     Kent Ellis House, 77, a Prineville resident, died on Aug. 21, 2006, in 
Prineville.

     He was born on March 23, 1929 in Murphysboro, Ill., to Harry and Mary 
(Worthen) House.

     He attended and graduated from Hood River High School in 1947. He served 
in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star.

     He married Shirley Everett in Hood River and was married to her for 37 
years until they divorced.

     After serving in the Army he moved to California and worked as a meat 
cutter where he had his own shop. He worked as a meat cutter for several 
stores, including Safeway, Fred Meyer, and Thriftway.

     In April of 1979, he moved from Santa Maria, Calif., back to Hood River. 
In 1985, he moved to Portland.

     On March 7, 1988, in Stevenson, he married Maria Torres. In 2000, they 
moved from Portland to Prineville.

     He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. He loved yard work, 
weed eating, and traveling all over the United States. 

     He is survived by his wife Maria; five sons, Gary House, Virginia, Randy 
(Beth) House, Santa Maria, Calif., Paul (Lisa) House, The Dalles, Tony (Liz) 
House, Vancouver, Wash., Jerry (Bridgitt) House, Santa Maria; 10 grandchildren 
and five great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.

     A memorial service will be held on Saturday Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. at the 
Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Jack Collier will officiate. Private 
graveside services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

     Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home
