Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 19, 2006, 11:43 pm The Dalles Chronicle, February 7, 2006 Diana Housden, 61, of Goldendale, died on Friday, Feb. 3 in Portland after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 19, 1944, to Walt (Sam) and Caroline Bass in Grand Forks, N.D. She married Lee Housden in Las Vegas in 1970 and worked as a systems analyst at Lockheed Martin for 15 years. She and her husband moved to Goldendale in the middle 1970’s with her devoted dog Tina. She loved butterflies, gardening, flowers and animals, especially dogs. Shopping on the internet was a passion and stops at the malls were “mandatory” when coming home from conferences. She loved to sew and taught tole painting to many aspiring artists. She worked at Klickitat County Mental Health, and the county extension office before coming to the auditor’s office where she became the Elections Administrator. She was appointed to the position of Klickitat County auditor when Nancy Evans retired in 1996. She was elected at the end of that year and served in that position until health forced her to retire Dec. 31, 2005. She Loved Goldendale and Klickitat County and was involved in the Washington State Auditor’s Association and Washington Association of County Officials. She is survived by brothers Richard Bass, Goldendale; Rex Bass, Arizona; nephew Matt Bass and numerous other nieces and nephews and step-mother Lucy Tomlinson also of Goldendale. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee in 1987, her father Sam in 1988 and her mother Caroline in 1998. Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Goldendale. Pastor Kevin Gerchak officiating. Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery under the care of Erdman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
