The Dalles Chronicle, July 29, 2005
     Georgia Belle Holzapfel, 92, a longtime resident of Sherman County, died 
at a care facility Monday, July 25, 2005.
     She was born Dec. 19, 1912 in Wasco, the only child to Elwood and Belle 
(Andrews) McPherson. She was raised in Wasco and graduated from Wasco High 
School in 1931. 
     After high school, she enrolled in a nurses training program at The 
Dalles General Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse. 
     She married Roy “Gail” Holzapfel on Dec. 6, 1934. They moved to Sherman 
County in 1953 on the Holzapfel family farm. 
     She enjoyed spending time with her family, the outdoors, farming and 
gardening. 
     She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine and her husband, Dwayne 
Carroll, Hermiston; grandchildren, Jeanne and her husband, Joe Dabulskis, 
Wasco; Larry and his wife, Vickee Carroll, Hermiston; great-grandchildren, 
Matt, Julie, Tyler, Mic and Amy. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
Gail Holzapfel in 1970.
     Graveside services will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery on 
Cherry Heights Road at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2. Spencer, Libby and Powell 
Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
