He was born June 14, 1917, in The Dalles, the first child of Harry "Brick" and Anna (Petersen) Hoffman. He was raised on Orchard Road on the family farm and continued to operate the orchard until he retired. He was a life member of American Legion, V.F.W. He was very active with their activities, being a member for nearly 60 years and serving in every position in the V.F.W., and he was also active in the funeral honor guard and local parades. Hoffman is survived by two sisters, Dolores and her husband, Fred Akita, Dallesport and Connie and her husband, Norman Woods, Portland; nieces and nephews including, Michael Woods, Vancouver, Wash. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Carlson and Bernice Hill. Graveside veteran memorial services will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 1 p.m. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
