The Dalles Chronicle, March 11, 2004
     Virginia Mae Thienes Hodges, 75, a former resident of The Dalles, died in 
a Salem hospital March, 5, 2004.
     She was born April 12, 1927 in Eugene, the daughter of Clair and Bertha 
Lindley McHenry. She grew up in Eugene and graduated from high school there.
     She married Jack Thienes in December 1946 in Eugene. They were married 
for 25 years and later divorced.
     She was married to Bertram Hodges from 1973 to 1995. She worked for the 
U.S. Bank in The Dalles for more than 20 years as a customer service 
representative.
     After her retirement she was an active volunteer for Columbia Gorge 
Chapter of the American Red Cross in The Dalles.
     She settled in Gresham in 1993 to be closer to her son, Mike Thienes. She 
lived in Gresham for nine years until she came to Dallas this January to be 
closer with her daughter, Becky Jacroux.
     She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She had been a member of First 
Christian Church in The Dalles and later Mt. View Christian Church in Gresham.
     She is survived by her son, Mike Thienes, daughter-in-law, Kathy and 
three grandchildren, Eric, Emily and Kevin of Gresham; daughter, Becky Jacroux 
and son-in-law, Ken, Dallas; brother, Richard McHenry and sister-in-law, 
Muriel, Chelan, Wash.
     A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 27, at 1 p.m. 
at BreckenRidge Vineyard in Dallas. Memorials may be made to the Columbia 
River District of the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 802, The Dalles, OR. 97058. 
     Arrangements are by Bollman Funeral Home in Dallas.
