The Dalles Chronicle, April 8, 2004
     Margurite Amilia Hock, 95, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home on 
Tuesday, April 6, 2004. 
     She was born Aug. 17, 1908, in Hastings, Neb., the fourth of eight 
children to John Franklin and Bertha Anna Mary (Blumenthal) Snively. She was 
raised and attended school in Hastings. 
     She married Hiram Wyatt Hock on May 13, 1929, in Alma, Neb. In 1939, the 
family decided to move. If it was a cold day, they would move to Texas and if 
it was a warm day, they would move to Montana. The family moved to Noxon, Mont.
     In 1952, the family moved to Jewel and to The Dalles in 1954 where he 
worked construction on The Dalles Dam and she worked as a cherry sorter for 
Stadleman's Fruit, eventually retiring from The Dalles Cherry Growers.
     She enjoyed being a homemaker, her family, crafts and crocheting.
     She is survived by three children: Kenneth Hock, Halfway; Phyllis Ellen 
Brittle, Portland; Patricia Joanne Langlois, Tacoma; 23 grandchildren; 36 
great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. 
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Hock in Sept. 1956; four 
children, Gerdis, Dale L., Joyce L. and Lloyd D. Hock; four brothers and three 
sisters.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
on Thursday, April 8 from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, from 8:30 to 10 a.m..
     Graveside services will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery on 
Three Mile Road, formerly known as Parklawn Cemetery, on Friday, April 9, at 
11 a.m., with Asa Jenson officiating. 
     Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home are in care of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Gorge, 751 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, 
OR 97058.
