Surnames: Hilton, Geary, Gould, Yates John Elstner Hilton, 63, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2003. He was born January 18, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, the only child of Harold H. and Ella S. (Geary) Hilton. The family moved to northwest Portland in 1948 and he graduated from Benson Tech in 1957. He married Penny Jean Gould on April 5, 1958 in Stevenson (Washington) and they settled in The Dalles in December of 1958. He started work at Harvey Aluminum and was currently working as a process manager at Golden West at Goldendale (Washington), having worked continuously for 44 1/2 years in aluminum production. He and his wife owned and operated the Art Box, where he cut mats and did framing. He was a member of the Dalles Eagles and Mid-Columbia Car Collectors and former member of the Elks Lodge, Jaycees and the Country Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, clamming, his coastal home at Ocean Park, Washington and his classic car; a 1966 El Camino. He is survived by his wife, Penny, The Dalles; his son, John E. Hilton, Jr. and his wife, Jenifer, Oregon City (Oregon) and daughter-in-law, Margaret Yates, Newberg (Oregon) and grandson, Corey James Hilton. He was preceded in death by his son, James, in 1992. Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, with Asa Jenson officiating. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory.
