Surnames: Hill, DeSchamps, Stockdale, Saucler, Reed, Smallwood, Wade, Hale Charles W. Hill, 71, died at a hospital in Kokomo, Indiana on March 25, 2003. He was born April 23, 1931 in MacNabb, Illinois, the son of Claude C. and Maude M. Hill. He married Carolyn J. DeSchamps on June 27, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. After leaving the service, he returned to work for Chrysler Corporation and retired in December of 1980 with 31 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and built custom cabinets for friends and family. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and music and played the guitar and piano and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn J. Hill, Kokomo; son, Charles J. Hill and wife, Sue Ann, The Dalles; daughter, Linda K. Stockdale and husband, Tom, Lafayette, Indiana; grandchildren, Blair, Ryan and Jeremy Stockdale, Casey and Corey Hill; sister, Vermon Saucler, Warren, Michigan; Mary and husband Eric Saucler, Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Virginia Reed, Anoka, Minnesota; Margaret and husband, Jack Smallwood, Kokomo; and Barbara and husband, Tom Wade, Clovis, New Mexico; mother-in-law, Wanita Hale, Kokomo; and brother-in-law, Robert DeSchamps and his wife, Zanna, Kokomo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Services will be Saturday, March 29, at Ellis Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46901.
