Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 31, 2006, 8:49 pm The Dalles Chronicle, October 8, 2006 James Devon Hill, 76, a former Wishram resident, died Oct. 5, 2006, in Olympia, Wash. He was born Aug. 1, 1930 in Medaryville, Ind. He was a retired conductor on the Burlington northern Railroad based in Wishram. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and participated in the invasion of Inchon during the Korean War. He was a past governor of The Dalles Moose Lodge, and had been a member for 28 years. He was a member of The Dalles Eagles Lodge for 47 years and was a life member of the Elks at Mt. Adams “The Birthday Lodge No. 1868” in White Salmon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene. He is survived by his children Micheal Hill, Tammy Gerry (Mark), and Devona Hill, as well as his grandchildren Kristopher Gerry, Bryan Gerry, Matthew Hill, Nathan Detamore and Joshua Detamore. Graveside services will be held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in The Dalles on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. Friends may leave online condolences for the family at www.funeralalternatives.org.
