Wakley iwakley@msn.com and July 20, 2006, 11:53 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 15, 1984 Joseph Anthony Healy, 68, died in a Portland hospital Thursday, Nov. 8. He resided in The Dalles since 1951. Mr. Healy was born Feb. 10, 1916 in Portland. He worked as a locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Healy, The Dalles; three sons, James J., Independence; Kevin J., Hermiston; and Thomas D., Juneau, Alaska; one daughter, Kathleen A. Healy, Oakland, Calif.; three grandchildren; one brother, Vincent Healy, Milwaukie; four sisters, Margaret Kaufman, Johanna Herincks, and Valera Manning, all of Portland and Patricia Berns, Lacey, Wash. Recitation of the rosary was at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Peter Catholic Church Saturday at noon. The Rev. Martin Quigley officiated. Burial followed at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald and Timothy Kaufman, John Manning, Charles Berns, Maurice Herincks, and Donald Amato. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School Foundation Fund.
