The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 5, 1984
Alfred Hayes, 85, a resident of The Dalles for 15 years, died at Mid-Columbia 
Medical Center March 24.

He was born in Globe, Ariz., Jan. 25, 1899.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 701, and worked as a 
heavy equipment operator in this area.

Survivors include a brother, William Howard, a sister, Miss Thelma Howard, 
both of Long Beach, Calif.; five nieces including Mrs. Arthur (Andrea) 
Preston, Oxnard, Calif.; and a nephew.

Graveside services were March 30 at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.  Spencer, Libby 
& Powell Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
