     Lester “Festus” Haworth, 72, a resident of The Dalles, died Friday, Dec. 
20, 2003 at his home.
     He was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Portland to Charles and Gertrude (Kligel) 
Haworth and grew up in the Portland area attending local schools. He worked 
for many years in the logging industry as a logger, cat skinner, truck driver 
and diesel mechanic. He moved to the Mid-Columbia area in the 1970’s.
     Survivors include his wife, Irene Rowe Haworth of The Dalles, and his 
children: daughters Glenda, Oregon City; Jeanne, West Linn; Brenda, Milwaukie; 
and his son Clyde, Oregon City. Also surviving are two sisters: Marlene 
Harmon, Miami, Fla.; and Mary Nelson, Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 
three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gene and 
daughter Theresa.
     In accordance with his wishes there will be no public services at this 
time. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are 
by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
