     Edna Leaone Harvey, 55, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home on 
Wednesday, April 26, 2006, after a long battle with cancer.
     She was born in Ilwaco, Wash, on Nov. 28, 1950 the oldest of three 
children and the only girl to Elmer Edward and Donna Belle (Moore) Roshone. 
     She grew up in Salem, surrounded by her family. Her curiosity often led 
her and her brothers and cousins on day-long adventures. 
     At the age of 14, she was awarded the Carnegie Hero Bronze medal, the 
Willamette Chapter of the American Red Cross Bravery award and the Salem 
Professional Firefighters Council award for extreme bravery, for saving five 
children and one adult from a burning home where she was babysitting.
     She married William Ray Harvey on May 8, 1970 and together they raised 
three children; Cherie, Michelle and Michael. 
     During the 1970’s they moved from Oregon and lived in Central City, Neb., 
Topsfield and Winchendon, Mass., finally settling in The Dalles in 1979.
     She has worked with handicapped and special needs children and adults 
since 1980. 
     During this time she worked for the Education Service District as a 
special education teacher at Petersburg and Chenowith Elementary schools and 
as a community support specialist at the Columbia Gorge Center in The Dalles. 
     She was a council member of the Native American Breast Cancer Awareness 
Program, a founding member of The Dalles Area Relay for Life event and a Fred 
Meyer’s Relay Team member, a Red Hat Society member, Eagles member and Lady’s 
Auxiliary member. She enjoyed traveling the globe and making new friends 
wherever she went. 
     She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill Ray Harvey, The Dalles; 
her children and their families, Cherie (Harvey) Coiner and her husband Mike; 
Michelle Harvey, Rolan Miller and Michael Harvey; her grandchildren, Derek 
Coiner, Bethanie Miller, Zackary Coiner, Samantha Coiner and Katie Jo Petroff, 
all of The Dalles; her parents Elmer and Donna Roshone, Huntington; and her 
brother, Elmer Roshone, Jr. and his wife Carol, Sweet Home.
     She was preceded in death by her brother Warren D. Roshone; her nephew, 
Edward J. Roshone, and her niece, Jami S. Lyon.
     Viewing visitation will be held on Friday, April 28 from 2 to 7 p.m. and 
on Saturday, April 29 from 9 to 2:30 p.m.
     A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m. at St. 
Peter’s Landmark in The Dalles, with a reception immediately following at the 
Eagle’s Lodge on West 7th and Walnut in The Dalles.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the “Edna Harvey Fund” at Cascade 
Eye Center, 310 Cherry Heights Rd, The Dalles, OR 97058, Hospice of the Gorge, 
751 Myrtle St., The Dalles, OR 97058, American Cancer Societies Relay For
