The Dalles Chronicle, May 13, 2004
     Fredrick Earl Harrington Sr., 59, a former resident of The Dalles, died 
at a Newport hospital Thursday, May 6, 2004.
     He was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Eugene, the third of five children to Lance 
and Edna (Gillmore) Harrington. He was raised in Oregon and served in the US 
Navy from 1962-1966.
     After the service he lived in Norwalk, Calif., and worked for the Union 
Pacific Railroad. He married Virginia Eileen Pitt, in Las Vegas in 1966 and 
married Teresa Strode in 1987, on a boat in the middle of the Columbia River 
near The Dalles. 
     He worked as a diesel mechanic and had his own mobile truck repair 
business known as Fred’s Truck Repair. 
     He enjoyed his family, the outdoors and four wheeling. 
     He is survived by four children, Fred Harrington Jr.; Blue Harrington; 
Cherie L. and her husband, Don Schell; and Lance and his wife, Jenny 
Harrington, all of The Dalles; six grandchildren, Carrie, Tiffany, Don Jr., 
Miranda, Scotty and Tyler; his mother, Edna Harrington, Toledo; two brothers, 
Tom Harrington, Washington, and David Harrington, Toledo. He was preceded in 
death by his father, Lance, in 1986; two brothers, Lance, in 1976 and Dennis, 
in 2000.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
on Sunday, May 16, from 1 to 5 p.m.
     Memorial services will be held at The Dalles Eagles Lodge on Sunday, May 
16, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ed Gillmore officiating. Private cremation was held at 
The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in 
care of arrangements.
