     Raymond A. Harrell, 78, a resident of Lyle, Washington died at Hopewell 
House in Portland on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004. 
     He was born on June 8, 1926 in North Platte, Neb., to Earl and Verna 
Harrell. He grew up in Bigfork, Mont. 
     He served during World War II in the United States Marine Corps.
He married Emma LaVerne Menzie on Nov. 13, 1948, in Bigfork, Mont. They moved 
to Roseburg in January 1949. In 1960, they moved to Beaverton until retiring 
to Lyle in 1985. 
     He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lyle.
     Survivors include his five children, Sandy Golden, Beaverton; Linda 
Sifferman, Bend; Donna Brandt, Oregon City; Leah Carpenter, Portland; and 
Dennis Harrell, Lynnwood, Wash.; seven grandchildren, and six great-
grandchildren.
     Graveside services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery at 10 
a.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, with Father Todd Unger officiating. Spencer, Libby 
and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
