Surnames: Harrison, Gilkison, Currier, Ford, Spencer Arthur Lyle Harrison, 90, a resident of The Dalles, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at a local care facility. He was born September 3, 1912 in North Powder (Oregon), the youngest of nine children to Christopher and Mary (Gilkison) Harrison. As a young man he worked as a logger in Sisters (Oregon) until WWII when he went to work in the shipyards at Portland. From that time on he worked as a carpenter in Portland until his retirement in 1957. He married Ruth Currier in 1935 and she preceded him in death in February of 1994. He enjoyed his friends at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center in The Dalles, the Eagles and Moose Lodges, and dancing to western music. Survivors include his children; son Eugene Harrison, Redmond (Oregon), and Norma Harrison, Spokane (Washington); grandchildren Kelli Harrison Ford, Port Alberni, British Columbia, (Canada), Lisa Spencer, Honolulu, Hawaii, Megan and Jeff Harrison, Redmond; and three great-grandchildren. At his request no public services will be held; the family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
