The Dalles Chronicle, September 15, 2004
     Edna A. Hand, 66, a resident of Cornelius and a one time resident of 
Antelope, died on Sept. 11, 2004 at a Portland hospital.
     She was born March 21, 1938 in Yacolt, Wash., the daughter of Carl M. and 
Violet D. (Smith) Dupree. She attended school in Amboy, Wash. until she was 10 
when she moved with her family to Antelope, where she attended school for two 
years. The family moved to North Plains in 1950 and she graduated from 
Hillsboro High School.
     She married Duane Hand on Dec. 24, 1959 at Turner and after their 
marriage they lived in Cornelius. He died in 1971.
     She enjoyed playing pool, golfing, fishing, playing softball, hunting, 
camping and spending time with her family and friends.
     Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; Tony D. and Linda 
Hand, Dayville; Theodore R. and Tama Hand, Newberg; and Troy L. and Judy Hand, 
Chambersburg, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie K. and John Robinson, 
Portland; and Cindy D. Hand and James Rickard, Portland; two brothers and 
sisters-in-law, Fred and Diane Dupree, and Dennis and Brenda Dupree, all Cove 
Orchard; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvonne Waugh, The Dalles; Peggy 
and Wayne Whitbey, Cornelius; and Nancy Gee and Gary Shallanberger, Cornelius; 
16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald. 
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Fuiten, Rose and Hoyt Funeral 
Home in Forest Grove. A reception followed. A private interment was held. 
     Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Oregon Chapter, 4412 
SW Barbour Blvd., No. 220, Portland, OR 97201.
