He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Kalvesta, Kan., the fifth child to William Everett and Mable Thelma Hamill and was raised in the Garden City, Kan. area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and then settled in Rainier. On July 29, 1951, he married Valujean Geelan, in St. Helens and they moved to the Garden City area where they lived until 1959. They then returned to Rainier for a short time, before moving to Centerville, where he worked on a farm for one year. He then moved to Klickitat and worked at the mill until the mid-70’s. After his divorce, he married Juanita “Skippy” Marcella Beebe on Nov. 28, 1975, in Goldendale and they lived in several locations before settling in Condon in 1981. In the early 90’s, he moved to The Dalles. He was baptized in the Klickitat Valley Baptist Church and attended the Salvation Army Church in The Dalles. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, baseball games and wrestling. He is survived by his special friend and companion, Bernise Logston, The Dalles; five daughters, Bonnie Jean and her husband, Wayne Anderson, Orlando, Fla.; Shirley Ann and her husband, Craig Schultz, Oregon City; Peggy Sue Hamill and her companion, Dan, Goldendale; Teresa Marie and her husband, Dennis Wright, Lake of Ozark, Mo.; Betty Lee and her husband, John Sawdon, The Dalles; his son, Earl Dean and his wife, Tanya Hamill, Dallas, Ore.; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Fritz, Sonny, Rex and David; two sisters, Maude and Ann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita in January 1998, his son, William Everett, in October 1989, five brothers and four sisters. A gathering of family and friends for a potluck will be held at Sorosis Park on Sunday, April 25 at 2 p.m. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Gorge, 751 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, OR 97058.
