The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 13, 1983
     Marie Rowena Grutchfield, 87, a resident of The Dalles since 1981, and 
formerly a 58-year resident of Colville, Wash., died Monday at Mid-Columbia 
Medical Center.
     She was born May 6, 1896 in Port Angeles, Wash.
     Mrs. Grutchfield was a member of First Congregational Church and the 
Faithful Rebekah Lodge, Colville.
     Survivors include her husband, Stanley Grutchfield, whom she married Nov. 
14, 1916, in Nelson, B.C., Canada; a son, Victor, Everett, Wash.; two 
daughters, Caroline Shellman, The Dalles, and Mrs. John (Lois) Eddy, Seattle, 
Wash.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Iva 
Lindow, Banff, Alberta, Canada.
     A son, Wendell, died in 1942.
     Graveside funeral services are at the Mountainview Park Cemetery, 
Colville, tomorrow (Friday) 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Darksmith 
officiating.
     Memorials are suggested to the Colville First Congregational Church.  
Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
