Grorud, 74, died at his home in Salem March 27. He was formerly director of the Columbia Park Hospital in The Dalles. Dr. Grorud was born in Mondovi, Wisc., on Dec. 31, 1913. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed his internhsip at Multnomah County Hospital in Portland. After four years as flight surgeon with the U.S. Army, he practiced privately in Springfield for 20 years. From 1968 to 1980, he was director of the Columbia Park Hospital here, which closed in 1980 and was later the Judson College campus. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Salem; two daughters, Jan M. Grorud of Portland and Laurie Bowen of The Dalles; two sons, George A. of Tempe, Ariz., and Norman E. of Balboa Island, Calif.; two granddaughters. The funeral service was held in Salem at Rigdon-Ransom Colonial Chapel followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery at Mt. Angel. Donations in his memory are suggested to the Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice.
