The Dalles Chronicle, November 28, 1985
Mrs. Mabel F. Groce, a lifetime resident of The Dalles, died at her home on 
Nov. 25 at age 67.  

She was a member of the Dufur Christian Church, Cherry Park Grange, Degree of 
Honor, Ladies Auxiliary of The Eagles Lodge, Pomona Grange as well as the 
State and National Grange.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at Smith Callaway Chapel, 2:00 
P.M.  Pastor Ron Coleman will officiate.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Groce; two sons, Robert L. Groce, 
Garrison, Texas and F. Roy Groce of Maupin, Ore.; one daughter, Mrs. Don 
(Lois) Kant of The Dalles; two half-sisters, Mrs. Merle (Doris) Thorton, 
Sheridan, OR, and Mrs. Melvin (Lorna) Gatchell, The Dalles; seven 
grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  A 
sister Ora Moyer Remington preceded her in death.  Mr and Mrs. Groce were 
married June 11, 1938.

The family has suggested for those who wish, memorials to a favorite charity.

Interment will be at the Parklawn Odd Fellows cemetery.  Pallbearers serving 
will be Ronald Omeg, Jack Preston, Ed Underhill, Bill Collins, Matthew 
O'Conner and Jack Denslinger.
