Marion "Jocko" Angus Gosson, 78, a resident of Tygh Valley (Oregon), died at his home on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. He was born July 5, 1924, in Dufur (Oregon), the second of four sons to Dewey Benjamin and Caroline (Scott) Gosson. He grew up on Upper Mill Creek, attended Mill Creek Grade School and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in North Africa and Sicily. After the war, he returned to The Dalles, and then lived in Portland and Redmond (Oregon) before settling in Tygh Valley in the mid 1970's. In Tygh Valley, he owned and operated his own welding and repair shop. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, crabbing in Netarts Bay (Oregon), tinkering, building and driving hot rods. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Wayne and Janet Gosson, Bellevue, Nebraska; Gaye Gosson, Scott Gosson and Mark and Dawn Gosson, all of Medford (Oregon); grandchildren, Dale, Debbie, Schyler and Crystal; his brothers, Dewey Gosson, The Dalles and Jim Gosson, Sutherland (Oregon). He was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Gosson. At his request no public services will be held. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Tygh Valley Fire Department.
