Ruth Glover, 84, author of 10 published books and hundreds of stories and poems, died at a local care facility on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006. A resident of The Dalles, she was born in Donnybrook, Saskatchewan, Canada on Feb. 23, 1922 the second of four children to Harry Friesen and Queena Elva (Morrison) Vogt. She grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada and attended one year of college at Pasadena College in Pasadena, Calif. She married Halder M. Glover in Vancouver, Wash., on July 9, 1940. She was a pastor’s wife for nine years at First Christian Church and was recently attending Life in Christ Center. She enjoyed writing, oil painting and hospitality. She is survived by her husband, Halder M. Glover, The Dalles; one son, Jeffrey Glover and his wife Beverly, Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Holly Kessler and her husband Dick, The Dalles; and Lynn Halsey and her husband Tony, The Dalles; seven grandchildren, Ben Kessler and his wife Marybeth, Kristen Burns, Shannon McIlroy and her husband Darin, Jeremy Stockett and his wife Joy, Jeff Stockett and his wife Bethany, Ashley Glover and Ryan Glover; four great grandchildren, Ali, Aiden, Ian and Luke, and one brother, Al Vogt of Edmonds, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings. Viewing visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 8, from 2-7 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at IOOF Cemetery Threemile Road, with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church with Pastor Mike Wilson, Pastor Danny Chamberlin and Pastor Julius Jepson officiating.
