Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 4, 2007, 12:23 am The Dalles Chronicle, May 17, 1988 Joseph Francis Glennie, 66, a former resident of The Dalles, died in Klamath Falls on May 14 after he was struck by a car. He was born Nov. 8, 1921 in Klondike. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1939 and from the University of Oregon in 1948. He was a U.S. Army veteran, served with the 41st Division and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Glennie moved from Eugene to Salem in 1949. He worked as a CPA in Salem from 1950 to 1970 and from 1971 to 1983 he was a supervisor for the State of Oregon Justice Department in the accounting services division. He was past president and a life member of the Salem Bowling Association, was current treasurer of the Exchange Club, was director of the Marpo Credit Union, was past president of Salem General Hospital and was a member of the Keizer Elk’s Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Dolores A. (George) Glennie, whom he married in Salem on March 27, 1971; two sons, David S. Glennie and Guy J. Glennie, both of Salem; two daughters, Kay A. Botens, Salem, and Janis L. Foote, Milwaukie; a brother, William D. Glennie, Pendleton; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Howell, Edwards and Doerken Funeral Chapel, 1350 Commercial St. S.E. in Salem. Burial will be at Prautum Cemetery in Salem. Memorials may be made to the Exchange Club, Club Abuse Prevention Center in care of the funeral home.
