Dorothy L. Glazier Surnames: Glazier, Loney, Beatie, Blumenschein, King, Martin, Clark, Landis, Whiteaker Dorothy L. "Dodie" Glazier, 76, a resident of The Dalles, died Friday, February 14, 2003 at a care facility in The Dalles following an extended illness. She was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1926 in Oregon City (Oregon) to pioneer family John and Ada (Loney) Beatie, the only one of their three children to be born in a hospital. She spent her childhood in Oregon City and graduated from high school in Billings, Montana. She later attended Clatsop Community College in Astoria (Oregon) and was featured in a news article regarding the fact that with her daughter Terry and oldest granddaughter Rina also attending Clatsop C.C. it was the first time in the college's history that they had three generations of a single family in simultaneous attendance. She married Donald M. Glazier in Oregon City in August of 1963. She loved music, particularly singing and dancing, and was fond of knitting. She was an active member of the Mid-Columbia Senior Center and sang with their Senior Serenaders vocal group. Survivors include her husband, Don, The Dalles; a son, Jim Blumenschein, Bend (Oregon); four daughters, Terry King, Brownwood, Texas, Ann Martin, Rockaway Beach (Oregon), Ruth Blumenschein, Killeen, Texas and Carol Blumenschein, The Dalles; grandchildren Rina Clark, Laura Landis, Robert Landis, Eric Whiteaker, and five great-grandchildren. A family celebration of her life was held on Saturday, February 22 at the boat basin at The Dalles Waterfront Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 715 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, Or 97058. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
