May 2003 ********************************************************************************* Surnames: Gillen, Stockstill, Barber, Goldstein, Vinsonhaler, Burros, Riggs, White, Reddick Joy Yvonne "Judy" Gillen, 76, a resident of Wamic (Oregon), died Sunday, May 17, 2003 at her home. She was born January 20, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ross Howard and Florence Lucille (Stockstill) Gillen and grew up in the St. Louis area. She moved to San Diego, California as a young woman and married Morris Lee Barber in Yuma, Arizona on June 25, 1947. They were later divorced. She followed her husband's military career for a number of years, moving from Key West, Florida to Chino, California in 1958. She worked as a chef in California until moving to Oregon in 1991.. She moved to Wamic to be near her sister in 1997. She enjoyed sewing and was a master quilter who had made many quilts as gifts for members of her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law John D. and Judi Barber, Claremont, California; a brother Charles Goldstein, Oakhurst, California and sisters Carol Vinsonhaler and Jayne Burros, Wamic; several grandchildren, including Shawna Riggs, Darnell Barber, and Jay I White; great-grandchildren Kyla and Zachary Riggs and Kristin and Christian White. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, Ross Howard Gillen, Jr. and her sister Marion F. Reddick. Services in celebration of her life were held on Tuesday, May 20, at the Vinsonhaler home in Wamic with Asa Jenson presiding. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
