Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 7, 2006, 10:46 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 9, 1982 Robert Glen Garrett, 50, a resident of The Dalles for the past eight years, and formerly a resident of the Shaniko and Grass Valley areas, died April 2 at a Portland Hospital. He was born April 10, 1931 in Burns. Mr. Garrett was a heavy equipment operator for 20 years for the state highway department before moving to The Dalles where he worked for Martin Marietta. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion Post in The Dalles, and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Rose, The Dalles; a son, Robert Allen Garrett and one daughter, Rosemary Garrett, both of The Dalles; a brother, Bill Garrett, Madras; three sisters, Mrs. Don (Glendora) Smith, Grass Valley; Mrs. Blanche Riggs, Wasco; and Mrs. Roy (Daisy) Van Fosson, Cambridge, Idaho, and an uncle, Kenneth Crozier, John Day. Graveside funeral services were Tuesday in the Veteran's section of The Dalles IOOF Cemetery with Dr. Roger Weeks officiating. Military services followed. Casketbearers were Jerry Hoffman, Paul Stuart, Glen Cunningham, Darrel Vareberg, Don Emberg and Wes Pray. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
